Overview
Norfolk Academy’s Master Plan Implementation is a multi-phase campus transformation that modernized and expanded facilities across the independent school’s historic Norfolk campus. The program encompassed nine renovation and new construction components affecting the Lower School, Upper School, refectory, athletics, and the James B. Massey Leadership Center, creating updated academic, student-life, and campus environments while advancing the Academy’s long-term vision. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, Construction Administration, and Commissioning services across the phased program, integrating modern building infrastructure within both existing and newly constructed facilities. The improvements support energy efficiency, occupant comfort, operational reliability, and continued campus evolution, with sustainability initiatives including the LEED Gold, net-zero Massey Leadership Center and its 600+ kW solar energy system.
