Overview
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is a 51,550-square-foot law enforcement headquarters developed to consolidate agency operations within a modern facility designed to serve the community for decades to come. The two-story headquarters brings together patrol, investigations, community policing, records, administration, evidence management, training, fitness, and other operational functions while providing dedicated spaces for community engagement and public safety education. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, Construction Administration, and Commissioning services for the project, incorporating a geothermal HVAC system served by 138 wells to support energy-efficient building operation. The facility provides secure, adaptable infrastructure that strengthens operational coordination, officer training, community outreach, and the Sheriff’s Office’s ability to respond to evolving law-enforcement needs.
