Ben Crismore serves as Principal and Director of Thompson Consulting Engineers’ Virginia Beach Office, where he leads the firm’s operations and business development efforts throughout the Tidewater region and Eastern North Carolina. He also oversees the firm’s Energy Modeling Department, supporting innovative and sustainable design solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction (LEED AP BD+C), and is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Since beginning his career with Thompson Consulting Engineers as an intern and joining the firm full-time in 2017, Ben has steadily advanced into a key leadership role within the organization. His combination of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and client-focused leadership has contributed to the firm’s continued growth and success throughout the region.

In addition to leading business development initiatives throughout the Tidewater region, Ben serves clients as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager. He works closely with owners, architects, and stakeholders to guide project development, planning, and execution from concept through completion. His expertise includes sustainable building design, energy modeling, the LEED certification process, and the LEED v4 BD+C rating system, helping clients achieve high-performance building goals while balancing project budgets, operational needs, and long-term building performance.

As Project Manager, Ben is responsible for project coordination, work assignments, quality control, and schedule management to support successful project outcomes. His collaborative leadership style, strong communication skills, and technical insight enable him to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams while maintaining Thompson’s high standards for quality and client service.

Ben has completed Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) training and is knowledgeable in the standards and procedures of the Division of Engineering and Buildings (DEB). He also contributes to marketing and business development initiatives and supports the maintenance of the firm’s standards of care and Division 23 Master Specifications, helping ensure consistency, quality, and innovation throughout Thompson’s mechanical engineering practice.
