Jason Miner, GGP

Associate Principal

Jason brings more than 26 years of dedicated experience with Thompson Consulting Engineers, serving as a cornerstone of the firm’s electrical engineering team. As a Senior Electrical Designer, Project Manager, and Green Globes Professional, Jason plays a key role in delivering some of Thompson’s largest and most complex projects — combining technical expertise, leadership, and a deep understanding of client needs to help ensure every project’s success. He holds an Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design from Virginia Peninsula Community College and has developed extensive expertise in lighting design, interior and exterior power distribution, fire alarm systems, data networking, and emergency generator systems.

In his role, Jason oversees all aspects of electrical design, from project scoping and proposal preparation to managing schedules, budgets, and quality control. He leads project kickoff meetings, ensures that scopes of work are clearly defined, and coordinates with clients and internal teams to help ensure deliverables are met on time and exceed expectations. Jason is highly knowledgeable in the application of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Guidelines, providing clients with practical, code-compliant solutions that support both performance and long-term reliability.

Jason also manages the firm’s Electrical BIM Department, providing mentorship, training, and oversight to support accuracy, efficiency, and innovation in digital modeling and documentation. Beyond his technical and managerial responsibilities, he supports firm operations through involvement in project billing, accounts receivable, and marketing efforts — including participating in project interviews and contributing to the company’s marketing strategy as an active member of the marketing team.

In addition to his design and project management roles, Jason provides IT management support for the firm, helping ensure that technology resources remain reliable, current, and aligned with project needs. His diverse skill set and willingness to take on complex challenges make him an invaluable asset to both Thompson Consulting Engineers and the clients the firm serves.
