Overview
The Virginia Beach 4th Precinct Police Station and Incident Command Center is a modern law enforcement facility developed to replace the former Kempsville precinct and support the evolving public safety needs of a growing area of the City. Designed around a citizen-centered approach to policing, the facility combines secure law enforcement operations with administrative offices, interview and evidence areas, officer wellness spaces, and a large multipurpose room that supports community activities while also functioning as an Incident Command Center during major events and emergencies. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, Construction Administration, and Commissioning services, integrating resilient, energy-efficient building systems capable of supporting both daily police operations and emergency response functions. The facility strengthens operational readiness and community engagement while providing a high-performance public safety environment that achieved LEED Gold certification.
Challenges
