Overview
Chesterfield County Matoaca Fire Station #8 is a 14,700-square-foot public safety facility developed to replace an aging 60-year-old station and strengthen fire and emergency medical response throughout southern Chesterfield County. Strategically relocated to Hickory Road, the three-bay station expands the territory reachable by emergency crews, improves ladder truck coverage, and provides modern accommodations for an engine, medic unit, ladder truck, brush truck, and personnel supporting 24/7 operations. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, Construction Administration, and Commissioning services for the project, integrating building systems that support responder health and safety, operational readiness, and the continuous demands of an active fire and EMS station. Designed with future growth in mind, the facility provides flexible apparatus and living areas that can expand as community needs and emergency response demands evolve.
Challenges
