The Eastern Virginia Medical School Strelitz Diabetes Center is a 47,000-square-foot specialized healthcare and research facility dedicated to advancing diabetes treatment, education, and scientific discovery. The comprehensive renovation transformed Williams Hall, originally constructed in the 1960s, into a modern environment that brings patient care, clinical research, experimental treatments, and education together within a single facility. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, Construction Administration, and Commissioning services, integrating modern building systems while addressing the environmental and infrastructure requirements of clinical and research spaces within the existing structure. The revitalized facility continues to support the Strelitz Diabetes Center’s mission of improving patient outcomes while advancing research into diabetes, its complications, and emerging treatments.
