Overview

Rockbridge County Courthouse is a 62,000-square-foot judicial facility developed to consolidate the County’s three courts, clerks’ offices, and associated court functions within a modern, centralized complex in downtown Lexington. Located within the city’s historic architectural context, the new courthouse was designed with native stone, brick, and architectural precast to complement its surroundings while providing contemporary courtrooms, administrative spaces, security, communications, and judicial support infrastructure. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, Construction Administration, and Commissioning services for the project, integrating modern building systems with the specialized operational, security, and technology requirements of a courthouse environment. The facility supports safe, efficient, and reliable judicial operations while providing the flexibility and infrastructure necessary to serve Rockbridge County well into the future.
