York County Fire Station No. 1 is a 19,763-square-foot replacement fire station and tactical training facility located in Yorktown, Virginia. Designed to replace an aging station originally constructed in the 1950s, the new facility includes five apparatus bays, administrative and support spaces, living quarters for emergency personnel, and a three-story tactical training tower that enhances firefighter preparedness and operational readiness. Thompson Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the project. The facility was designed to support the demanding operational requirements of modern emergency response while emphasizing energy efficiency, occupant wellness, and long-term reliability. Through the integration of high-performance building systems and sustainable design strategies, the project achieved LEED Silver certification, supporting York County's commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
